In a press statement released by 2K Games’ parent company, Take-Two, Gearbox’s upcoming loot-fest – yes, we’re talking about Borderlands 2 – is the third-highest pre-ordered game in the company’s long history.
What could possibly have beaten out Gearbox’s powerhouse, you ask? Oh, just two small titles enjoyed by some: Grand Theft Auto: IV and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. As you’re probably award, both GTA titles did remarkably well, in terms of sales and critical response, so taking up the pre-order bronze may not be a success in and of itself.
Releasing on September 18 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, Borderlands 2 has already gone “gold,” meaning the game is officially completed and off for final testing. In the meantime, developer Gearbox is hard at work on post-release DLC; something fans of the original title were treated to regularly.
