British actor and director Alan Rickman has died at the age of 69. After being recently diagnosed with cancer, the BBC is reporting that the actor has passed away.
His family has released the following statement:
“The actor and director Alan Rickman has died from cancer at the age of 69. He was surrounded by family and friends.”
Most recently, Rickman was known as Professor Snape in the Harry Potter films, and was a fan favorite until he killed Dumbledore. Other roles such as Truly, Madly, Deeply and Robin Hood Prince of Thieves saw Rickman deliver incredible performances, but ironically it's not his most famous role. Hans Gruber in Die Hard (1988) was actually Rickman's first film in which he portrayed a character that is still iconic to this day.
Our condolences to the Rickman family.
