Bryan Singer has a new idea for the next Wolverine incarnation

Director Bryan Singer has apparently pitched an idea to introduce Wolverine's daughter/clone, X-23, in a future X-Force project.

Thanks to the roaring success of Deadpool, studios like 20th Century Fox seem to be a bit more willing to try new concepts and ideas to expand their brand in exciting ways. As it turns out, the rumors about an X-Force movie to take the reigns after X-Men: Apocalypse releases are not only substantiated, but have actually had involvement from X-Men director, Bryan Singer. After the initial concept art emerged online, there's been radio silence in regards to news about X-Force. Recently, Singer revealed he had actually pitched the idea of introducing X-23, Wolverine's daughter, to become the spiritual successor after Hugh Jackman exits the franchise following the third and final Wolverine movie.

For those of you unfamiliar with X-23, her name is Laura Kinney and was actually cloned from Wolverine's DNA, making her his "daughter". Similar to Harley Quinn's original debut, X-23 made her first appearance not in the comics, but in fact on the popular Kids WB animated series, X-Men: Evolution. After her character became one of the most popular the show has introduced, Marvel decided to try her out in the comics themselves, where her popularity grew exponentially from there. In an attempt to recreate the success of Wolverine's experiment, Weapon X, the government project that gave him his adamantium skeleton, attempted to clone the famed mutant and try the process again, this time with a mutant they created, over which they would have ultimate control. Breaking away from their manipulation, Laura escaped and sought to maintain the legacy her father left behind, all while struggling to find her own place in the world of the superpowerful.
