If a new Instagram post by director Bryan Singer is any indication, X-Men: Apocalypse could see the return of Angel. Teased earlier today, Singer posted production art featuring a winged character in some sort of cage surrounded by onlookers — as if some kind of circus freak.
The last time Warren Worthington III, aka the Angel, appeared in the movie franchise was in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand. His appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse hasn't been confirmed, but his return in the film certainly makes sense given his history with Apocalypse — having served as one of his horsemen — in the comics.
Ben Hardy (EastEnders) is listed as having a role in X-Men: Apocalypse, but there's no information as to who he'll be playing; there's speculation that he could fill the role of Angel.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to release on May 27, 2016.
