Bungie aware of Destiny NEWT error

It took a while, but Bungie has finally acknowledged to the connection issues currently plaguing a portion of Destiny's playerbase. Responding to the flood of reports, Bungie says they are "aware" of the issue, but didn't provide a timetable as to when it will be fixed.

The problems started for some earlier today around 12:30pm ET. Since then the number of players experiencing the dreaded NEWT error has grown. It's unclear exactly what's causing the problem, as both Xbox and PlayStation users are reporting problems. What's kind of strange is that it's not affecting all players. We tested our game on PS4 earlier today and were able to play perfectly fine.

Should you encounter the error, Bungie suggests the following actions, although it isn't guaranteed to work.

Please retry that activity again and resume what you were doing before the error occurred. If you encounter this error again, please exit Destiny then relaunch. If you continue to see this error, it’s likely due to testing we are doing on our end, please pardon our dust!
We'll continue to monitor the situation and let you know if anything should change.
