Next week at E3, Bungie — the developer that made Halo — will be demoing Destiny. Destiny is Bungie's new FPS, being shown off live at the PlayStation press conference.
You'd figure that the creators of one of the most popular franchises of all time wouldn't feel the need to prove itself and the work they do, but that's not the case.
Speaking with MCV, Bungie's snior writer Eric Osborne said:
We've come a long way. When Bungie shipped the first Halo for the first Xbox there were less than 50 people working at the studio. Although most of the original team is still here today we've also been able to incorporate a remarkable amount of key talent into the fold. And this team has enthusiastically embraced the challenge of taking a genre we know and love and to turn it on its head again. With Halo we earned our studio's independence back. But with Destiny we want to prove to ourselves that it wasn't just lightning in a bottle."
Something tells me it wasn't lightning in a bottle. Bungie looks to have something special on its hands with Destiny. Destiny will be shown at the Sony press conference on Monday June 10 at 6pm PT. Destiny doesn't have a release date, but it will release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
