Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered standalone gets its Xbox One release date

Get ready.

Over eight months after coming out as an add-on for the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered has finally gotten its Xbox One release date. The game will launch later this week on July 27th, 2017 and retails at the previously revealed price tag of $39.99. The launch date for Modern Warfare Remastered had already been leaked about a month back, so it doesn't come as a total surprise.

Modern Warfare Remastered's existence hasn't come without its share of controversy, beginning with the fact that the only way to unlock it was by dropping $80 on the Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition and following that up with charging $14.99 for the Variety Map Pack. The game has been dumped on in the Steam user reviews section with only 37% of users giving the game positive feedback.

Though to be fair, the reviews aren't necessarily an indictment on everything the game has to offer, as most of the reviews reference Activision's willingness to charge extra for the map packs as well as the typical "poor optimization" references the series, unfortunately, gets every year. This may also explain why the PC version has yet to get a release date.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is available now on PS4 and will release in three days on Xbox One.
