Call of Duty still king of Black Friday?

Although Call of Duty's sales have dipped in recent years, one thing has remained consistent — it's always a top-seller during the holiday season. And this year it's no different.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 already staked its claim as biggest entertainment launch of 2015 when its three-day opening weekend exceeded $550 million in sell-through worldwide, and it looks like that hot streak continued into Black Friday weekend.

While we don't have exact numbers, new sales data out of InoScout (via Seeking Alpha) reveal Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 represented 9.8% of all dollars spent on video games during Black Friday. Not only did it outperform notable sports titles such as Madden NFL 16 and NBA 2K16, but it also beat out three of this year's biggest shooters. According to the data, Black Ops 3 garnered more game spending than Fallout 4, Halo 5: Guardians, and Star Wars Battlefront combined.

It's worth noting that InfoScout's data isn't official by any means — as it tracks shopping receipts from Americans submitted through the company's mobile apps: Shoparoo, Receipt Hog, and Receipt Lottery. The data in the graphic above was analyzed from the first 250,000 receipts reported. But while it's not an exact number, it at least lends credence to the notion that Call of Duty is far from a dying franchise.
