Campbell’s Soup celebrates the 50th anniversary of Warhol’s art with more soup

It has been fifty years since Andy Warhol first displayed his work “32 Campbell’s Soup Cans” and a half century is a perfect time to celebrate the anniversary.  These were originally painted on thirty-two canvases with a different type of Campbell’s Soup on each.  Later in his career, Warhol did another version of this project eight years later but inverted the colors for a different artistic interpretation of his originals.

In honor of the inverted color version of these paintings, Campbell’s Soup is releasing labels for their soup just as Warhol painted 50 years ago.  With permission and license from The Andy Warhol Foundation, these cans will be sold exclusively from Target for $0.75 each.  The sales start on September 2nd.  For that price, how can you go wrong with these recreations of history?  Collect a bunch of these cans and add some class to your panty.  This is amazing stuff!

If all of this Warhol news wasn’t enough, Campbell’s Soup is sponsoring the upcoming exhibition “Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Warhol overload.  I want some soup.
