When Resident Evil Revelations 2 released on PC it didn't launch with the local co-op feature that was offered on other platforms. While this exclusion was only noted by Capcom when it was too late, the company formally apologized to the community and promised to make amends.
Less than a week later the developers have made good on their promise, adding a local co-op feature to game.
Technically in beta, the mode will allow two players to play the Story and Raid modes through a split screen on their PC (who split screens a PC?!). The feature won't be 100% polished, as Capcom rushed this out to the community, but it does give people the option to play with friends. Of course, if this still isn't good enough for you, Capcom is offering refunds through Steam.
Here's the beta post from the devs on Steam (posted and edited today):
Hello RE fans,
Following Resident Evil Revelations 2 PC player feedback, we've got some new information to share. The development team has been exploring various options and we're in the process of creating a way for players to utilize a local co-op feature
Soon we plan to release a beta branch on Steam which will allow two players to play the Story and Raid modes locally via a split screen. We want to get this feature in the hands of our PC players as soon as possible, so this option may not be 100% polished when it is released. Feedback from those who try it out is welcomed. For anyone who isn't satisfied with this option, refunds are available through Steam.
We'll have more specific news to share when the beta branch goes live, so please stay tuned.
EDIT: Open beta patch is now live. Detailed instructions on how to access the beta branch can be found HERE.
I would feel bad asking for a refund after they gave me the local co-op, but then again I don't split screen on PC…
