Captain Britain TV series is in development with Marvel

Another Marvel hero is about to be raised from obscurity.

Ciara McAvoy, producer and poster artist, recently tweeted that a new television series based on Marvel Comic's Captain Britain is in development.

Not much is known yet about the series still to be officially announced, but the possibility that this project might come through is likely. Now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding, both in movies and television, Marvel is taking more chances with some of their lesser known titles. Thanks to the success of current shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, and Netflix's Daredevil and Jessica Jones, upcoming shows like Luke Cage, Marvel's Most Wanted, and the half-hour sitcom, Damage Control, are becoming highly anticipated.

Captain Britain was created as the UK counterpart to Captain America. Brian Braddock, brother of the psionic mutant, Psylocke, acquired his powers from the famed wizard, Merlin, as he was minutes from death. Accepting the powers of the mystical Amulet of Right, Brian donned the mantle of Captain Britain. Having similar powers to Captain America, with super strength, agility, and stamina, he also has a magic sceptre that allows him to fly. Capt. Britain would go on to be one of the UK's greatest champions and eventually lead the superteam, Excalibur.
