‘Captain Planet’ is working towards a movie, Leonardo DiCaprio set to produce

They're gonna take pollution down to zero!

Leonardo DiCaprio could be producing a movie based on the classic 'Captain Planet' animated series with 'Scream Queens' writers set to pen the script.

It seems that the film industry has finally gotten its hands on the nostalgia market of the 90's. With hype for next year's 'Power Rangers' at an all time high thanks to the recent trailer drop at the New York Comic Con, another property from the golden era of kids' programming is trying to make its way to the big screen.

Once 'The Revenant' star, Leonardo DiCaprio, began pushing for legislation on climate change, his movement led him to bring the cause a bit further into the mainstream by attaching it to a beloved children's property. 'Captain Planet and the Planeteers' was one of the most memorable animated series' of its era. Thanks to its anti-pollution message ringing throughout, its the perfect vehicle for the actor to engender some change in the public.

The series centered on a group of teenage activists using magic rings to summon the champion of the earth, Captain Planet, who fought environmental terrorists and other threats to the globe and its inhabitants. Once approved by Paramount Pictures, the movie will be produced by DiCaprio, with the script to be written by 'Scream Queens' writers Glen Powell and Jono Matt
