Carmageddon reincarnated through Kickstarter

Stainless Games is bringing back Carmageddon, the mature-rated driving game from 1997, as Carmageddon: Reincarnated.

Based on the 1975 action film Death Race 2000, Carmageddon originally released for PC and was later ported to additional platforms. The original developer recently bought back the rights to the classic series and plans to develop a reboot with the support of fans.

The company needs $400,000 to fund the game on Kickstarter. Stainless hopes to release the game by February 2013 with both single-player and multiplayer modes. Backers who pledge at least $15 will receive the game for Steam, all subsequent updates at no charge, exclusive wallpapers, and their name in the credits.

Other incentives are available with at higher donation tiers.
