The inaugural community celebration embraces Destiny

Celebrate Bungie Day with this touching Destiny video

Today, July 7, is Bungie Day, an annual event that celebrates Bungie's fanbase dating back to 2007 when the company shared new details on Halo 3. On that day, they also gave away tons of freebies, including a map pack for Halo 2, gamer pics, and an Xbox 360 theme. Bungie has come a long way since its Halo days, having since released Destiny. And today, the studio continued their tradition of thanking their new community.

"While Bungie Day has been a thing for a number of years now, today marks the inaugural community celebration in the Destiny era. In fact, it was just about this time last year that many of us were being revived from the rusted wastelands of Old Russia for the very first time. Many more would soon follow, with tales of adventure all their own," Bungie wrote.

"As always, it's those stories that mean the most, so let’s relive a small slice of Destiny's first year through your eyes."

In addition to today's video, Bungie also annoucned the Destiny Year One Art Contenst, tasking the community with answering the following question: "What has been your favorite thing about the first year of Destiny?"

Make a video, take or draw a picture, whatever you do you'll need an external URL to host your creation and submit it to Bungie by July 23, 2015. The top 50 creations will earn a Blacksmith Shader, while the top seven will also receive the Collector's Edition of Destiny: The Taken King.
