Check out 4 new Skylanders Swap Force characters from Gamescom

Disney Infinity might have got a head start in this year's toy collecting video game craze, but let's be honest, Skylanders at this point is already a household name.

This year, the franchise is once again changing things up with Swap Force characters. These toys will have interchangable legs and bodies, that will allow you to customize your figures in various ways.

Aside from Swap Force characters that have the ability to be interchanged, the game will be introducing a few new core characters for Swap Force, which don't include a swappable base, but instead are completely new characters with some sweet powers.

At Gamescom 2013, Activision unveiled four new characters, two Swap Force and two Core characters.

First up is Grilla Drilla, a resident of the Drilla Empire, serving as one of the guards for the Drilla King. After saving the King from a troll attack, he was named the new leader of the Empire, but instead chose to join the Skylanders, where he could put his bravery to good use and help even more residents of Skylands.

Boom Jet was known as the best sky surfer in all of Skylands. Unfortunately, since the Darkness had come, he never had a chance to compete in the championship, and instead had to use his heroic rocket skills to rescue all the citizens of his hometown, right before it was destroyed. After that, realizing saving Skylands was more important than personal glory, he offered his services to the Skylanders.

Zoo Lou is a descendant from a long line of shamans, studying the wisdom and fighting styles of the Seven Strange Mages. After successfully fending off an attack on his homeland, and mastering the enchanted art of communicating with nature and summoning animals, Zoo Lou was brought to Master Eon and Skylanders by Double Trouble.

Slobber Tooth was at once asleep for thousands of years, but woken up by an eruption of two volcanic islands crashing together. At first sought out by Kaos to become one of his minion, Slobber Tooth refused his offer, which made Kaos attack his ancient homeland. For his heroism of defending his homeland, Master Eon sought out Slobber Tooth to have him join the Skylander ranks.

You can get hyped for the release of Skylanders Swap Force on October 13th for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and Wii U, or the next-gen version coming November 15th to PS4 and whatever date Microsoft chooses as the release date for Xbox One.
