Cityville, Zynga’s follow-up to games like Farmville and Frontierville has exploded in popularity over its first month of release, quickly becoming the most popular application on Facebook. In March 2010, Farmville peaked in popularity with 83.76 million players, while Cityville has reached 84.2 million users, despite only being released in mid-December.
With growth of Facebook and the quick success of Cityville, it’s suggested that the game could eventually grow to as much as 125 million active users.
Is this success justified? By my count I get a lot more enjoyment out of Popcap’s Facebook offerings than I ever got out of Zynga’s games. What do you think of Cityville so far? Sound off in the comments section below.
