Last week, EA revealed FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi as the FIFA 15 global cover athlete, but noted that they'll also have "a number of regional covers featuring local talent" alongside him. The first reveal is for the North American cover which will see US Men's National Team Captain Clint Dempsey join Messi on the cover for the United States and Canada versions of FIFA 15.
The 31-year-old midfielder plays for the Seattle Sounders, but is probably most recognizable for his role in the US Men's National Team's historic run in this year's World Cup, which included a memorable goal against Ghana. On a more local note, his Seattle Sounders club sits atop the MLS Western Conference.
There's just one problem with having Dempsey on the cover, though. Dempsey's pro team is sponsored by Microsoft, which means he has a big ol' Xbox logo on his jersey. I'm sure you can understand the problem Sony might have with that, so for the PS4 and PS3 versions of FIFA 15 Dempsey will have a wardrobe change and will instead wear the national team jersey.
