According to Ubisoft, adventuring to the four corners of the world is possible with Assassin’s Creed’s animus, including feudal Japan.
Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag creative director Jean Guesdon mentioned the location in an article on VG247 as another “possible future setting” thanks to the animus’ technology that allows players to travel throughout history, combing the memories of those who were once alive and active in that specific setting.
“Feudal Japan remains–like numerous other time periods and locations–a possible future setting for the franchise because thanks to the Animus," Guesdon said. "The entire human history is our playground.”
However, according to Ubisoft, feudal Japan is just the second-most requested Assassin’s Creed setting behind World War II.
Ubisoft’s latest installment teased several historic periods in an in-game Abstergo email, adding to the speculation of where Ubisoft and their Toronto studio will take the next game, which is expected to ship later in 2014.
