Cyberpunk 2077 refunds being denied by Sony and retailers

Earlier today, Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red issued an apology for the state of the game on consoles. With that apology, the developer also promised and encouraged those unsatisfied to get refunds from wherever they bought the game. Great on paper… hasn’t worked out so far.

Some had success with refunds over the weekend but others, not so much. A number of customers have made attempts to get refunds for Cyberpunk 2077 from Sony to no avail. Sony’s customer support is notoriously stubborn on their refund policy but many assumed that with CDPR’s statement, it’d be easier. Many were met with resistance from Sony’s customer service, which you can see below.

We’ve reached out to Sony for a comment and will update the article if we hear back. They’re not the only ones refusing refunds for Cyberpunk 2077, though. Microsoft has also denied some refunds as well.

Some physical retailers aren’t able to independently do these returns and have referred customers to CDPR directly. GAME Spain noted this in their tweet. Customers can contact helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com until 12/21 for help with their refund.

GameStop will be honoring refunds, with a small caveat. Customers can return Cyberpunk 2077 their original receipt and get in-store credit for the price they paid. If you paid $59.99, you can use that to buy another new game instead. This may be disappointing if you wanted that cash in hand but it’s better than nothing.
