Daisy Ridley teases start of production for Star Wars: Episode 8

Despite the delay, it looks production for Star Wars: Episode VIII — the next installment in the new Star Wars trilogy — is on track.

Taking to Instagram, actress Daisy Ridley — who's perhaps better known around these parts as Rey, the Force-sensitive hero in the new trilogy — posted a photo suggesting production on Star Wars: Episode VIII is about to begin.

Ridley received a bouqet of flowers alongside a note that appears to read: "As we begin the production(?) […] appreciation for your…" The rest is cut off, but we're assuming it's thanking her for her wonderful performance in The Force Awakens and informing her about the upcoming production on its sequel, the currently untitled Episode VIII.

Not much is known about Star Wars: Episode VIII, which was recently delayed from its summer 2017 window to December 15, 2017, except that it's being written and directed by Rian Johnson with J.J. Abrams as executive producer. Actor John Boyega, who plays newcomer Finn in The Force Awakens, recently teased Episode VIII will be "much darker" than its predecessor.
