Good. Gooooooooooood.

Darth Maul is getting his own comic series that will debut in 2017

A long time ago, before the galaxy far, far away was given a prequel with pod racing that no one liked, the Dark Side was defined by two awesome bad guys, Darth Vader and the Emperor. That was until said prequel introduced the (mostly) silent tattooed Sith Lord who showed us that a Star Wars bad guy could be more than just a big hulking dude with a breathing problem.

Marvel will be launching a limited five-issue series centered around Darth Maul and his training under Darth Sidious which will be written by Cullen Bunn and drawn by Luke Ross reports USA Today. The story will feature an impatient Maul looking to test his skills against a Jedi, with Sidious commanding him to remain in the shadows, fearing him not ready to reveal himself. To cope, Maul heads for the seedy underworld to satisfy his bloodlust. While there, Maul discovers that a Jedi Padawan has been captured by a crime lord, and sees the opportunity he's been waiting for, away from his Master's gaze.

Fans will come to discover that the captured Jedi will "a huge impact on Maul’s life going forward" promises Bunn. "So a big part of the story is Darth Maul’s descent to the dark side and almost being tempted away from it."

Darth Maul was one of, if not the best things about The Phantom Menace, and many have lamented that it wasn't his character getting himself decapitated by Anakin Skywalker at the beginning of Episode 3. Maul has since been re-introduced into the Star Wars canon via the super awesome Clone Wars TV series and the equally impressive on-going Star Wars: Rebels series.

The first issue of the Dark Maul comic book series will release sometime in February 2017.
