David Ayer posts image of alleged Gotham City Sirens villain

Late last year we learned that David Ayer would be directing the up and coming female-centric film Gotham City Sirens, starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. No other characters were mentioned, but since it was based on the corresponding DC Comics of the same name, both Catwoman and Poison Ivy have been rumored.

No other information has been revealed up until now when Ayer himself tweeted an image of the villain allegedly set to be the centerpiece of the film. As you can see below, the infamous mob boss Black Mask appears to be the choice. Even though it's his first time in the DCEU, it would make sense as Catwoman, who is responsible for his "demise" in the comics, is also in the film.

We don't know when in the DCEU timeline Gotham City Sirens takes place, but with Tomb Raider reboot writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet as its scribe, we should hopefully hear more soon.  The release date still has not been decided, and we are too late in the game to see it take The Flash's spot which was just delayed out of February 2018. It is possible it could take The Batman's slot for October 2018 if it needs to get slightly delayed with its recent director issues, but for now, it's still up in the air.
