David Hayter joins The Long Dark as it hits crowdfunding goal

After a slow-going campaign, The Long Dark has finally passed its crowdfunding goal of $200,000 on Kickstarter with less than two days to go.

Hinterland Studios, a group of former triple-A developers, announced today in an update that David Hayter, the longtime voice of Solid Snake from Konami's Metal Gear Solid series, is joining the cast.

The more than $228,000 raised so far means that the first-person post-disaster survival sim will come to PC, Mac, and Linux and receive Oculus Rift support. The $225,000 milestone unlocked an exclusive downloadable graphic novel for all backers.

The next stretch goal, at $250,000, guarantees an extended soundtrack.

The Long Dark is due in late 2014.
