Dead Rising 2: Case Zero Tops XBLA First Week Sales of 2010

Microsoft’s Larry Hyrb has released the “first week sales” chart for Xbox Live Arcade games throughout 2010. Eighteen games were tallied, with Dead Rising 2: Case Zero claiming the top spot, followed by Limbo and Perfect Dark. World of Keflings, Super Meat Boy, and RISK Factions fall on the lower end of the table.

While Microsoft’s chart is compiled on raw and unavailable data, Gamasutra pulled together first week sales of the majority of the titles using the game’s leaderboards over a five day period, putting the rankings into perspective. Dead Rising 2: Case Zero had almost double the numbers of Limbo—328,290 to 166,243—figures that made the game a record-breaker, knocking Shadow Complex off its pedestal.

Monday Night Combat and X-Men Arcade fared well for themselves, but the fact still remains that making a new IP is difficult. Limbo, Toy Soldiers, Monday Night Combat, and Blacklight: Tango Down are the only new IPs in the list, although Limbo managed to climb all the way up to second.
