Deadpool game getting removed from digital retailers this week

Just a few years before his feature film debut, Deadpool got his own standalone game on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The game got a decent reception from critics but it was nothing that wowed people. The gameplay was akin to a hack and slash title but the selling point was the character of Deadpool himself and his excellent humor. Acclaimed voice actor Nolan North gave a memorable performance and made the game worth playing but other than that, it was fairly average.

Due to licensing issues, Activision eventually delisted the game from digital marketplaces but resurfaced as the Deadpool film released. Sadly, the time has come again and the game will be removed once again. It's not clear why this time as the character is now cemented in mainstream pop culture so you'd think the license would be worth renewing, especially with a new movie coming in less than a year.

Deadpool will be pulled from Steam on Thursday, November 16th and other digital retailers like the Xbox Store and PlayStation Store will likely follow suit but that has yet to be confirmed. If you want to grab it before it's gone, you can grab it for $11.99 on Steam until Monday at 10 AM PST and $12.50 on the Xbox Store for the next two days.

To be clear, if you own the game, it will not disappear from your library regardless of if you have it installed or not. You own it forever. There's no telling if it will return to digital marketplaces but it shouldn't be hard to track down a physical copy.

Deadpool will appear on screen again in Deadpool 2 on June 1st, 2018 and a new teaser poster hints that we may see a trailer later this month.

Deadpool is available on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
