Deadpool, other Marvel Activision games pulled from Steam, PSN, and Xbox LIVE

A number of Activision-published Marvel games, including the recent Deadpool, are no longer available for purchase on Steam, Xbox LIVE, or PlayStation network. Activision apparently gave warning that this Deadpool and several other Marvel digital games would be removed permanently from the digital stores, but it wasn't until over the New Year's holiday that gamers really began to notice.

Though no specifics were detailed, Activision community manager Dan Amrich mentioned "contracts have dates," so I'm assuming licensing agreements have something to do with all of this. Capcom also pulled the Marvel vs. Capcom games, according to Amrich.

The list of Marvel games that will no longer appear on digital store fronts is as follows:

  • Deadpool
  • Spider-Man: Friend or Foe
  • Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
  • Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
  • Spider-Man: Edge of Time
  • X-Men: The Official Game
  • X-Men Destiny
  • X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Retail copies of some of these games are still believed to be available at the moment, though it's unclear whether this will only be temporary until the current stock runs out.
