December’s free Xbox 360 Games with Gold: Gears of War and Shoot Many Robots

Microsoft today announced the next set of free Xbox 360 games for Xbox LIVE Gold Members. Continuing the Games with Gold promotion, Microsoft is giving away Gears of War and Shoot Many Robots for the month of December 2013.

Starting Sunday, December 1, Gears of War (normally $19.99) will be free for Gold members through December 15th. Following that, on December 16th, Shoot Many Robots (normally $9.99) will be free until the end of the month.

The release of these two games for free emphasizes Microsoft's goal of having Xbox 360 owners rediscover the old classics. Gears of War is easily one of the more popular franchises on Xbox platforms, and what better way to introduce players to the series than by giving the one that started it all away for free?

Last month, Microsoft gave away A World of Keflings and Iron Brigade. To date, Xbox Gold Members have enjoyed Crackdown, Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, Shadowrun, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013, Defense Grid: The Awakening, Fable 3, Assassin's Creed 2, and Rainbow Six Vegas for free.

Looking ahead, Microsoft will continue the Games with Gold promotion, confirming that Xbox One owners with a Gold subscription will get free games each month as well. Details about that are coming in 2014.
