Destiny 2 will not kill Bungie’s support for the original game

Despite being one of the worst kept secrets in gaming, Destiny 2 was officially revealed to the world today, but despite the considerable excitement surrounding the game, Bungie is assuring players who may not make the jump right away that Destiny 1 (it'll be weird calling it that) is not going anywhere. Bungie's community extraordinaire, DeeJ said that "Destiny 1 is still a game that will be there for players."

DeeJ continued, "We’ve planned to support it for the foreseeable future, so while we do have a sense of finality and closure as the theme of this [Age of Triumph] event, we are by no means turning the lights off on Destiny 1."

It makes a ton of sense to keep the original Destiny running, as many players all over the world have dropped considerable cash on the game, from the $60 original price tag to its subsequent DLC's. Pulling out the rug on those investments would be a bad look for both Bungie and Activision, and it's not like either is hurting for cash at the moment.

Destiny 2 is set to release on September 8th, 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
