Destiny gets discounted on Xbox ahead of House of Wolves

Ahead of next week's release of the House of Wolves expansion, Microsoft has offered Xbox owners a spotlight sale on on Destiny.

For this week, any Xbox LIVE member — regardless of Gold or Silver status — can purchase the base game on Xbox One for half price on the Xbox Store or through Amazon. The Digital Guardian Edition, which includes both The Dark Below and House of Wolves expansions, is discounted 33 percent, but only for Gold members.

On Xbox 360, you must be a Xbox LIVE Gold member to get the discount. Not sure why one system allows for any status while the other requires Gold, but very rarely do Microsoft's sales make sense.

House of Wolves is the second of two planned expansiosn for Destiny, and is included as part of the Destiny Expansion Pass which is priced at $34.99. Alternatively, the expansion can be purchased individually for $19.99. Destiny's first expansion, The Dark Below, released in December of last year. Looking ahead, it sounds like Bungie will continue to support Destiny as Activision teased last week the "biggest addition" to the game is coming this fall.

So if you want to jump into the fray and see what all of the fuss is about, why not get started now? Sure you're a bit late to party, but with all of the changes planned with House of Wolves, Destiny is finally becoming the game Activision and Bungie had originally promised.
