Destiny’s first Trials of Osiris event starts tomorrow. Here’s everything you need to know

Get ready, Guardians, because starting tomorrow those of you who have purchased Destiny's recently-released House of Wolves expansion will be granted the opportunity to partake in the game's first Trials of Osiris event where you will face the Crucible's "ultimate test of teamwork and skill."

The new PvP event is based on an Elimination Mode, where two pre-made teams of three players battle against each other over a series of rounds to determine the winner of the overall match. The concept is simple: eliminate the entire enemy team to win the round, win five rounds to win the match. There's also no respawning during the round, unless it's a teammate that resurrects you. According to Bungie:

"Your skill alone won't carry you through the Trials unscathed; gather a Fireteam capable of working as one and bring down the entire opposing team to claim victory. You may only be revived by a teammate, and if your whole team is down, the round is over. Elimination matches are played to five points, with a single point awarded to the victors of each round."

Here's where things really get interesting, though. To access the Trials of Osiris, you must first obtain a Trials Passage from Brother Vance. This is essentially a scorecard that tracks the matches you've won and lost throughout the event. Once you rack up nine wins or three losses, you may return the completed Passage to Vance for rewards you've earned for your wins. Obviously, the more wins, the better the reward.

To aid you in your path through the Trials, you are able to buy special Buffs with Trials Coins that are earned by playing Daily featured Crucible playlists as well post-game rewards elsewhere in the Crucible. These buffs serve multiple functions, including forgiving a loss, adding a win, or even doubling-down on your first victory. Each Passage may carry all three Buffs.

As a reminder, Passage of Osiris requires you form a pre-made team of three to participate, as matchmaking will only find enemies (based on connectivity, not gear or skill level). Speaking of gear, like Iron Banner, level and gear advantages are enabled — so where the best you've got.

Trials of Osiris is a weekend-only event, and will open tomorrow, Friday, May 22nd and run through the Weekly Reset on Tuesday, May 26th.
