We've known for a while now that with The Taken King expansion Destiny will be ditching its complex Light System in favor of a more traditional experience-based leveling system. And thanks to a livestream today, we just learned how your current Light Level will translate to your new character level. Another big question surrounding the change has to do with The Taken King expansion, and what level you'll need to be to participate in the new content.
According to Bungie, the minimum level to participate in The Taken King expansion content is 25, which should be pretty attainable if you've been playing the game for even just a short amount of time.
If you're a newcomer to Destiny, joining the universe with The Taken King, there will be a way for you to still play with veteran friends. As we learned earlier this month, The Taken King will come with an item — Spark of Light — that allows you to boost a character to level 25, the minimum required level to experience The Taken King content. Be warned, though, you'll still need to acquire gear with Light levels high enough to take on Destiny's most challenging missions.
Destiny: The Taken King is set for release on September 15th.
