Bungie has announced that Destiny will be offline for around six hours today, due to maintenance. The developers did not explicitly site what the maintenance was for, but the did include 'Future plans!' in the announcement.
The maintenance will begin at 8 AM PDT.
With the tease of 'future plans,' in the maintenance warning, it's safe to say that the maintenance is some kind of preparation for the newly announced expansion for the game, The Taken King. Destiny's expansion was officially revealed during the recently passed E3 event and will feature exclusive content for the PlayStation 4.
The Taken King's new content will look like new Supers for each of the three classes, new gear, a new multiplayer map, and a plot that has you going up against Orix, Crota's father who is hell-bent on revenge. Much of this information had been leaked before, but it's nice to see the game's official announcement.
Destiny: The Taken King will release on September 15, 2015 for $40.
