Destroy All Humans is getting a remake; Releasing in 2020

THQ Nordic is looking to take PS2-era kids on a trip down nostalgia lane this E3. Earlier this week, they announced they’d be remaking the beloved Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom and now, they’re reviving a cult classic: Destroy All Humans!

In 2020, THQ Nordic will publish a faithful remake of Destroy All Humans in time for its 15th anniversary. The semi-open world adventure game allowed players to step into the shoes of an alien attacking America in the 1950s. It was both incredibly funny with its humor and campy style but also incredibly fun to wreak havoc in cities donning 50s era dressing.

This remake developed by Black Forest Games will stay faithful to the original in just about every single way. In a press release, they noted they’ll just be adding a cut mission and tweaking gameplay to be more fun and fit for the modern gamer.

“Crypto is more agile than ever, his aerial combat skills improved, his psychic skills can now be used in glorious unison with his guns. And the new Psychokinesis… ever wondered what’d happen if a Jedi had a love child with the Goat Simulator? You’re welcome for that mental image,” reads the press release.

It should be very clear, this is definitely a remake of Destroy All Humans, not a soft-reboot. The plot synopsis follows the original’s plot to a tee.

“In 1959 Cryptosporidium-137 arrives on Earth in search for his predecessor clone, Cryptosporidium-136. Crypto-136 disappeared after Orthopox-13 sent him to Earth to prepare the large scale extraction of human DNA.

Pox sends Crypto on a mission to harvest human brain stems (which contain alien DNA due to an encounter between Furon warriors and humans in ancient times) to prevent the Furons from going extinct. Furon genitalia have withered away generations ago due to prolonged exposure to their own nuclear weaponry.

To accomplish his mission, he must battle US forces, infiltrate and sabotage secret government facilities and defeat Majestic, a shadowy government organization led by a black-clad figure named Silhouette.”

Destroy All Humans is slated to release in 2020 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
