When the PlayStation 4 launches later this year, Diablo 3 won't be one of the games available for the system, Blizzard confirmed. It will instead be released in 2014 as the developers are looking to offer more than a direct port of the PS3 version.
In an Diablo Fans interview with developers, it was noted that the team had just received the new PS4 development kits and that they are looking to take full advantage of the DualShock 4's features like the trackpad and share button.
Additionally, Blizzard warned that there was no guarantee that future expansions would ship on every platform at the same time. Again, the team wants to make the features of each expansion "as relevant to each platform as possible."
It was announced last month that the console version of Diablo 3 would arrive on PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 3. There's also some speculation that since it's arriving on Xbox 360 that it could also be an Xbox One title, but nothing has been confirmed.
