Diablo 3 will work offline on PS3 and PS4

Unlike its PC and Mac counterparts, Diablo 3 on PlayStation 3 and 4 won't require an always-on Internet connection to play.

"You can have four people on the same screen — no split-screen, we just zoom the camera out. Or if you're offline …" said Sony's John Hight, according to Eurogamer (via BlizzPlanetGaming).

He seemed to be saying that the PlayStation version will support four-player offline co-op multiplayer, at the least. It's not certain whether the Auction Houses will transfer over to the consoles.

Diablo 3 is "much further along" on PS3 than PS4, but Blizzard has "thoughts" on how it could use the touchpad on the new DualShock 4 controller.

These new versions will include updates such as player-versus-player brawling and will introduce an evade system that lets you hop out of an enemy's path.

Blizzard has not announced a release date for these versions as Sony has yet to confirm the launch date of the PlayStation 4.
