Disney’s live action Ghost in the Shell, staring Scarlett Johansson, gets release date

I’m still convinced that one day Disney will own the world. The company just continues to consume and assimilate powerful and dying companies. Just last week we heard that big-time actress Scarlett Johansson joined the cast of anime classic Ghost in the Shell’s live action film. If all that wasn’t big enough, how about a North American release date? Right now the film is looking to be released April 14th of 2017. Sooooo, yea. We have some time.

While it’s assumed Scarlett Johansson will be playing the lead, will she be playing Motoko Kusanagi or someone completely different? She doesn’t really pull off the whole Motoko vibe to me, but Hollywood magic is beyond my comprehension.

Lastly, don’t confuse the Ghost in the Shell live action film with the new Ghost in the Shell 3rd anime movie. All this Ghost in the Shell can get confusing, both sound exciting though!
