Disney’s The Lion’s Guard features Simba’s son Kion, gets new trailer

Last Summer we got our first hint at a new, expanded Disney canon for the Lion King as the company announced The Lion's Guard. It will be a television series airing on Disney Junior network and feature Simba's son Kion.  If you're saying to yourself "I don't remember Kion", don't worry. This is the expanded Lion King universe and the first time he is introduced into the franchise. The television series will begin airing on Disney Junior in January, but a made for TV movie will release in November.

The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar will focus on Kion and his friends as they set out to take back and protect the Pridelands from the hyenas. Kion will be voiced by Nathaniel Semsen (Book of Life 2014) while Rafiki will be voiced by Khary Payton (Batman Arkham Knight, Tomb Raider 2013). Moira Kelly, the original voice of Nala in The Lion King, is rumored to return to her role but has not been confirmed as of yet.

It's a new take on The Lion King but one that may cause some traditionalists a little heartache with the sudden thrust of a new character. What is your take on Kion being added to the franchise? Let  us know below
