DOTA 2 available on Mac and Linux

Congratulations Linux and Mac users. Today, Valve announced that Dota 2 is available on Linux and Mac. This comes a week after the official release of the game on PC, after a beta that seemed to last forever. In the patch notes for Dota 2, there were also changes to the UI, visuals, matchmaking and some general gameplay bugs.

The minimum spec requirements for Mac and Linux are:

Mac:

  • Mac OS X Lion 10.7
  • 4GB RAM
  • 8GB Hard drive space
  • nVidia 320M or higher, or Radeon 7000 or higher, or Intel HD 3000 or higher

Linux:

  • Ubuntu 12.04
  • Dual core from Intel or AMD at 2.8 GHz
  • 4GB RAM
  • 8GB Hard drive space
  • nVidia GeForce 8600/9600GT, ATI/AMD Radeon HD2600/3600 (Graphics Drivers: nVidia 310, AMD 12.11), OpenGL 2.1 OpenAL Compatible Sounds Card
