Dr. Disrespect says he doesn’t know why Twitch banned him

On Friday evening, infamous Twitch streamer Dr. Disrespect was abruptly banned from the service forever. Disrespect and Twitch remained tight lipped about what transpired for it as the streamer’s sponsors began actively distancing themselves from him.

Twitch later began refunding his subscribers and the situation only continued to become more confusing. Reputable sources indicated that the ban and silence was for a very, very serious reason and likely couldn’t comment any more on it due to legal reasons.

Over 24 hours after the ban, Dr. Disrespect broke his silence on Twitter.

“Twitch has not notified me on the specific reason behind their decision… Firm handshakes to all for the support during this difficult time,” read the brief post. Still, many think it’s strange it took him this long to respond to the matter as he’s usually a very vocal character.

Twitch’s official statement did indeed imply they are investigating him for violating their guidelines.

“As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.”

To make matters even more confusing, Dr. Disrespect’s last stream showed him seeming a bit flustered. He ended the stream prematurely after seeming panicked and upset, causing many different conspiracies.

This is also at the height of a very sensitive time for Twitch who has taken action and begun investigating sexual assault/harassment claims by big streamers.

There’s nothing to indicate that’s what has happened with Dr. Disrespect but has caused concern given the timing. No allegations have been made toward him at the time of writing.

Dr. Disrespect does have a controversial history. He has voiced conspiracies about 5G internet leading to coronavirus, livestreamed in a bathroom at E3 in 2019, and more. Dr. Disrespect has still come back before, even after being banned, but many have suggested that whatever has happened will likely put him out of commission for good.

We’ll continue to keep you updated as this story develops.
