Dragon Age: Inquisition has no intentions of working you into the story slowly, in fact, the games main menu displays the devastation you'll be finding in Thedas. Within an hour of starting the game, you'll find yourself teamed up with three followers to aid in you in role as Inquisitor.
This doesn't mean it isn't the game for people that are new to the series.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Inquisition's friendliness to those newcomers was detailed. The goals and motives will be outlined clearly in a streamlined manner. Nothing will be pushed onto the player forcefully, characters, legends and locations will be in a codex – available to player at any time. What's being said here is, no – you don't have to play Dragon Age or Dragon Age: Origins to get into the newest installment in the series.
In case you weren't aware, Dragon Age: Inquisition dollows the story of a survivor (you – the main character) who survives a demonic blast there tears a rift into the sky and releases demons into Thedas. The location of the demonic blast was set to host a peace summit to end the strife between mages and templars. With all hell breaking loose, it's your job to take the role of Inquisitor and hunt down the demons that haunt Thedas and to clear up the issues left in the wake.
Dragon Age: Inquisition is set to release on November 18th for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, PS4 and PS3.
