Driveclub has had 10.2GBs worth of updates since its release in October of last year. The latest update, a relatively small 0.1GB update, is bringing "significant technical improvements" to the game's servers making the long-awaited PlayStation Plus Edition possible.
The PlayStation Plus version of the game, a free-to-play, watered-down version of Driveclub, was intended to release alongside the game's initial release, but unforeseen server problems postponed the game "until further notice."
Developer Evolution Studios and publisher Sony have both kept relatively silent since the official postponement, but did offer a statement in February saying,"We are continually working on improving the server capacity to enable us to launch the PS Plus Edition as quickly as possible." This update should bring the servers to a place where the PS Plus Edition can release.
While the PS Plus Edition is "possible" thanks to the update, there is no mention of when it will release.
“The servers that provide Challenges in Driveclub are being replaced and upgraded,” said Evolution on their official Facebook page. “This will bring bigger, better challenges and improve server performance across the game as we continue to work to make the PlayStation Plus Edition of Driveclub possible.”
