When Driveclub was first revealed, it was announced as one of Sony's planned PlayStation Plus titles for the PS4. That's still happening, despite the game's delay from a launch title to October 7, 2014.
"Yes, the PlayStation Plus version is still happening," A Sony spokesperson confirmed to us.
The PlayStation Plus version, free to all members of Sony's monthly subscription service, is essentially the full game but with a few "missing assets," Sony explained back in July. The PS Plus version will still feature online multiplayer, the asynchronous challenges and the single player campaign, but will not contain some of the cars or tracks found in the full retail version.
"The PS Plus version gives us to the biggest open community, day one. This game is all about socializing," Evolution Studios explained to us at the time.
Driveclub will be released on October 7, 2014 exclusively for PlayStation 4. A new trailer was released today showing the latest progress on the highly anticipated racer.
