E3 2013: Nintendo announces Mario Kart 8 to keep your childhood nostalgia rolling

Ever since the Super Nintendo Entertainment system, every Nintendo console has had a Mario Kart game – almost like some sort of rite of passage. With the Nintendo Wii U being out for a while now, it seems nearly like fate that a brand new title in the franchise to come out. Well, here it is. Mario Kart 8 has been announced for Wii U.

These games also often come with themes; Mario Kart 8 is no different. ‘Gravity’ seems to be the big component of this version. Through magnets, your kart will be able to both drive upside down on inverted tracks as well as on walls. There will be gliders, high jumps, and all sort of non-kart driving. Even the 8th installment of this franchise is still finding new ways to mix it up.

There is no release date as of yet.
