E3 2014: Deep Down’s new trailer will leave you searching for help

Capcom today released a new trailer for their upcoming PS4 exclusive Deep Down, revealing a very different side of the game’s setting and a new division of nightmarish creatures.

The trailer begins with a shot of an overtly futuristic city, suggesting that we may not play the medieval knight we once thought the hero to be. You could even go so far as to theorize that the entire game is some sort of simulation, but that’s not so much going out on a limb as it is breaking the limb off and taking it home.

Funnily enough, it’s almost comforting to then be immediately thrown to the mashing jaws of hideous creatures, if only for the sake of familiarity. Futuristic undertones or no, sword and shield are your weapons here as you square off with voracious insects, bipedal beasts, an armored goliath, man-eating chests and, arguably most disturbing of all, a distinctly U-shaped abomination easily capable of putting even Dead Space’s Necromorphs to shame.

Deep Down will be a free-to-play downloadable title and will release exclusively for PS4 at a currently unspecified date.
