Sony had a massive E3 last year. Like beyond massive, probably one of the biggest shows in all of E3 history. It was a press conference that was more of a fans conference. It delivered on the hopes and dreams of many fans with announcements like Final Fantasy VII Remake, Shenmue 3, and the confirmation that The Last Guardian is a real thing that exists. I'm honestly still recovering from last year.
It would be pretty hard to follow that up right? Well, Sony pretty much blew the last E3 out of the water. Below you will find a round-up of pretty much everything Sony announced just incase you were unable to watch the show or fainted from excitement during the jam-packed conference.
The conference opened with a battle hardened Kratos hunting with his son and then they encounter some beasts and some amazing and epic gameplay unfolded upon us. We see a new apporach to the hack and slash formula we have come to know in God of War and the action seems much more visceral and intense than previous entries. The demo ended with a dragon flying in the distance and the title 'God of War'. Not God of War 4, just God of War. It's unclear whether the game is a reboot or a sequel as they didn't really linger too much and went right into our next title.
After years of silence, Bend finally debuted their new game Days Gone. The game follows a biker in the apocalypse and it looks like a game that will tug on the heartstrings. No other details were given on the title but it looks like a phenomenal game.
The Last Guardian is still real believe it or not and it's out this Fall.
October 25th, 2016. That's all you need to know.
Last year, Guerilla Games showed us their first game outside of the Killzone franchise, Horizon: Zero Dawn. The game focuses on a young woman raised in a group similar to Native Americans who ventures outside of her teritory into a world of unseen technology. She will embark on a journey where she will encounter many threats such as robots and other humans. The demo shown at the show had a strong focus on gameplay mechanics and all the creative ways you can take down enemies, even seeming to take inspiration from The Last of Us with an on the fly crafting system.
Horizon: Zero Dawn releases in February 2017.
To many people's surprise, Resident Evil 7 was revealed at E3 tonight with a demo available tonight on PS4 for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The game looks to take some inspiration from P.T./Silent Hills and will release January 27th, 2017.
Virtual reality is something Sony really wanted to push this year. We have games like Resident Evil 7, Batman: Arkham VR, Star Wars, and Final Fantasy XV all with sort of VR capablity. The line up looks very strong for the October 13th release date and there's at least one VR game out of the fifty launch titles for everyone to enjoy!
Quantic Dream showed new gameplay for Detroit: Become Human. A game about andorids living among us in society, some of which become sentient. The trailer shown shows a specifc scenario following an android cop and all the different choices you can make which will affect what happens at the end of said scenario.
After years of rumours, after years of patience, gamers can once again play with their favourite Bandicoot, both on Skylanders and remastered.
Sony announced at their annual E3 press conference that the original Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot: Warped will be remastered for PlayStation 4, however there is no release timescale as of yet.
Spider-Man video game in development from Insomniac Games
A new Spider-Man game is in the works and this time it's in Insomniac's hands. Not Sucker Punch like the rumors pointed to, and not Activision. The folks behind Rachet and Clank and Sunset Overdrive have taken the reigns on making the game for the iconic hero.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare & Modern Warfare Remastered gameplay
The FPS giant known as Call of Duty got its first ever gameplay shown tonight for Infinite Warfare. The demo put us in the shoes of Lt. Reyes and showed us some dogfighting in space, some zero g combat, and much much more.
Right after that, we got an extended look at Call of Duty 4 remastered, and it looks glorious. Relive your favorite moments in the classic shooter starting this October on PS4. Players who pre-order Infinite Warfare's deluxe edition on PS4 will be able to play CoD 4 30 days before anyone else! It's an exciting time to be a CoD fan on PS4.
Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding
Hideo Kojima walked out to a standing ovation from the entire crowd and presented his new game, Death Stranding. The game is incredibly mysterious and I have no idea what it's about but damn did it look like they were throwing some punches at Konami.
The game stars Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead who was set to play the lead in the now cancelled Silent Hills. One thing to note about the trailer is the fact that there is a baby and Norman Reedus lying side by side, which reminded me of the baby in the sink in P.T. Could be a coincidence, but is there such a thing as coincidences with Hideo Kojima? Probably not.
