E3 2019: Tales of Arise coming to consoles and PC next year

Amidst the wave of game announcements, some smaller-scope titles have drowned among all those news. One of these is the announcement of the next Tales JRPG entry. Bandai Namco has unveiled that Tales of Arise is coming to the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next year. Check out the reveal trailer!

When thinking about JRPG titles, it’s the usual heavy-hitters like Final Fantasy or Persona many gamers think about. But the Tales franchise has similarly been available for well over 20 years. And with over 17 main entries, the franchise has proven its popularity throughout generations of gamers and consoles.

The next chapter of the JRPG franchise is starting next year with Tales of Arise, and as expected so close to the start of a new console generation, Arise is amping up the production quality significantly with a flashy presentation and new style. Typical for the series, every game is presenting an entirely new cast of characters and story. This time, it’s the story of two planets and its inhabitants which couldn’t be more different. One living in poverty while the other ruthlessly exploits them for their lavish lifestyle. The two main characters are from these planets and over the course of their adventure they will learn to get along, make new friends and uncover the truth behind the two planets and history.

Here’s the official description from Bandai Namco:

Tales of Arise takes place in a solar system containing the two neighboring planets of Dahna and Rena. The inhabitants of Dahna have always paid reverence to their planetary neighbors on Rena – a planet they can clearly see in their sky – as a land of the righteous and divine. For the people of Dahna, legends and lore about Rena and its inhabitants have been handed down for countless generations, and through time, have become facts in their minds that have actually masked a cruel reality for the people of Dahna. For 300 years, the people of Rena have ruled over Dahna, pillaging the planet of its resources and stripping its people of their dignity and freedom. Tales of Arise begins with two people, born on different worlds, each longing to change their fate and create a new future for themselves and perhaps their people. Featuring an original cast of characters, a dramatic storyline, dynamic combat, breath-taking environments, with some classic Tales Of elements included; Tales of Arise marks a new beginning for the famed JRPG franchise.
