EA confirms NBA Live 14 as Xbox One and PS4 exclusive

In late May, EA promised that NBA Live would make its return on next-gen consoles. Then, during Microsoft's Xbox One reveal, we got a short glimpse at NBA Live 14.

That was it. Confirmation the game was indeed real. Of course, we also saw NBA Live 13 before that got cancelled. And remember NBA Elite 11? Same thing.

Now it has been confirmed by the game's executive producer Sean O'Brien and EA Sports vice president/general manager Daryl Holt to GI International that the game will be exclusive to the PS4 and Xbox One. That's right — if you've been waiting for an NBA Live basketball game, you're going to have to buy a next-gen console, because it won't be coming to the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. And don't even think about Nintendo's consoles.

Using the PS4 and Xbox One exclusive Ignite Engine, NBA Live 14 should make its debut sometime within the next year. It would be nice to have it as a launch day title, but let's face it, EA doesn't have a great track record with basketball games releasing on time, if at all.
