EA considering studios for a Need for Speed movie

Electronic Arts is looking at buyers for a film version of their Need for Speed racing series.

The publisher has hired producer John Gatins and writer George Gatins (Real Steel) to work on a pitch for interested parties in Hollywood. If made, the movie would likely appeal to the same audiences that enjoyed The Fast and the Furious.

According to Variety, companies Warner Bros., Sony, and Paramount have responded to the inquiry, with Paramont appearing to be the best candidate at present.

EA released Need for Speed: The Run last November, making it the 18th entry in the series. The cross-country race featured a cast that employed the talent of actors Sean Faris (Never Back Down) and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men).
