EA continuing ‘organizational update,’ confirms another round of layoffs

Electronic Arts is continuing its corporate restructuring, today confirming another round of layoffs. Early reports indicate that the EA Partners label will soon be shut down and while the company hasn't mentioned specific numbers, estimates that as much as 10% of the workforce has been cut.

EA has released their official statement which can be seen below:

In recent weeks, EA has aligned all elements of its organizational structure behind priorities in new technologies and mobile.  This has led to some difficult decisions to reduce the workforce in some locations.  We are extremely grateful for the contributions made by each of our employees – those that are leaving EA will be missed by their colleagues and friends.

These are hard but essential changes as we focus on delivering great games and showing players around the world why to spend their time with us.

It's been a tumultuous past couple of weeks for EA which has seen the departure of CEO John Riccitiello, layoffs in the publisher's mobile and social divisions, and the shutting down of several Facebook games. It doesn't appear that Battlefield 4 or any of EA's flagship sports titles — Madden, NCAA, and FIFA — have been affected by the recent layoffs. Then again, those are also the games that make the publisher the most money.
