EA hints that more titles could be coming for the Nintendo Switch

With nearly 5 million units of the Switch sold, it's clear that Nintendo has a hit on their hands. Even months after the console-hybrid's launch, it's still hard to find, which shows there's still a large demand. This is the kind of news many developers have been paying attention too, to see if Nintendo's newest entry into the hardware market would take off, unlike the Wii U. One developer, in particular, is EA, who has said that they were taking a wait and see approach, despite bringing FIFA 18 to the Switch this year.

Speaking with Nintendo Insider, EA's Worldwide Studios VP Patrick Soderlund says it may be too soon to say whether or not the company will release more games for the Switch.

We will appear on any platform where there are consumers, and players," Sunderlund said. "We believe that we want to be a part of the Switch, and help Nintendo grow that installed base; that's why you’ll see FIFA, which by the way is really good this year. It's a full-fledged FIFA game, for the first time to be honest, on a portable device.

The VP says that it costs a lot in resources, and financially, to expand games onto more systems, so they need to see if it merits the expense.

"So for us it's about supporting the platform," Soderlund continued. "Building technology for the platform, testing it out with big things like FIFA–and maybe a couple of others, we'll see–and if they go well, I see no reason why we shouldn't have as much of our portfolio on that platform as possible. I hope we get there, that would be my personal ambition."

So while EA has FIFA this year, it's entirely possible that next year, due to the success of the Switch, that we'll see more EA games on Nintendo hardware.
